Imagine living with the secret of illiteracy, struggling every day to survive in a fast-paced busy world, where technology is a way of life and the ability to read is a necessity. Imagine hiding it from your family, your friends, or even your employers. For many adults in our community this is a fact of life.
They wake up every day facing the harsh reality of being functionally illiterate.
The Florence Area Literacy Council’s is working to put an end to inter-generational illiteracy, poverty, unemployment and opening the doors of hope, achievement and independence.
Our students’ accomplishments would not be possible without your support. When you run the Legwarmers for Literacy race you are helping countless families in our area overcome. Because of you and others like you, we are making a difference for families and adults in our community.
